Is it really Verizon Fios — or is it your gateway? (4-step troubleshoot)

Reboot your gateway/modem. Unplug for 30 seconds, plug back in, wait 3 minutes. This resolves ~40% of "outages" people report. After 28 years of installs, Rick's seen this many times.
Check the lights on the modem/ONT. If the "internet" or "online" light is off or red, the carrier signal isn't reaching you — that's a carrier-side problem. If all lights are green, the carrier signal is fine and the problem is your router or Wi-Fi.
Try Ethernet, not Wi-Fi. Plug a laptop directly into the gateway. If that works, your Wi-Fi router is the problem (or its placement, or interference). If Ethernet also fails, the carrier signal is down.
