What's great

  • 2,553 nits peak HDR brightness (10% window) — brightest OLED Samsung has ever shipped
  • Art Mode on OLED — a first
  • FloatLayer gallery-style chassis
  • One Connect Box — clean cable run
  • Glare-Free coating + matte finish
  • 4× HDMI 2.1 onboard + 4× on One Connect = 8× total
  • 165Hz + full VRR stack

What's not

  • $900 more than S90H for incremental gains
  • No Dolby Vision (Samsung corporate decision)
  • One Connect cable adds install complexity if not using included routing
  • Bixby still trails Gemini/Alexa for genuine voice usefulness

What's new for 2026

The S95H is Samsung's flagship OLED of 2026 and the year's most-shipped premium TV. Three things changed vs the S95F: peak brightness jumped from ~2,000 to ~2,553 nits (measured by Rtings), Art Mode arrived on a Samsung OLED for the first time, and the chassis got the new "FloatLayer" gallery-style design that genuinely looks better on a wall than the S95F.

The One Connect Box returns — Samsung's external HDMI/power hub that connects to the TV via a single thin "Invisible Connection" cable. For wall-mount installs in cabinet-free rooms, it's a genuine quality-of-life upgrade. With the optional Wireless One Connect Box (sold separately), you get 4 HDMI 2.1 ports on the TV PLUS 4 more on the wireless box.

Smart TV experience & OS

Tizen 2026 with Vision AI. Same OS as the S90H but with the flagship-tier picture processor doing extra scene-aware tuning. App ecosystem is complete. AirPlay 2 supported, no Chromecast. ATSC 3.0 tuner included. Solar Cell remote (rechargeable via ambient light). Samsung Gaming Hub for Xbox Cloud / GeForce Now / Luna built in.

Picture quality & panel tech

Brighter QD-OLED panel with the new Glare-Free anti-reflection coating + matte finish. 2,553 nits peak in 10% window (Standard mode), 251 nits full-screen. This is the brightest OLED on the market in 2026 — slightly above LG G6's 2,268 nits.

Wide P3 + Rec.2020 color volume — QD-OLED's strength. HDR support: HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive. No Dolby Vision. If Dolby Vision is non-negotiable, pick the LG G6 instead.

Sizes: 55, 65, 77, 83. All use the same QD-OLED panel tech.

Gaming performance

Top-tier gaming. 4× HDMI 2.1 onboard, 4 more on the optional Wireless One Connect Box. 165Hz native refresh. Full VRR (HDMI Forum + FreeSync Premium Pro + G-Sync). ALLM. Samsung Game Bar 2026 on-screen overlay.

Input lag ~8.9ms at 4K@120 in Game Mode. Among the lowest measured. Cloud gaming hub built in.

Audio & soundbar pairing

4.2.2 channel built-in audio, 70W. Object Tracking Sound moves audio in sync with on-screen action. Q-Symphony pairs with Samsung soundbars to add TV speakers to soundbar output. Atmos passthrough via eARC. Best built-in audio of any Samsung OLED. Still get a soundbar for serious movie nights.

Mount & install notes

Standard VESA 300×300 on the 65". Slim chassis (One Connect routes all I/O to the external box). Weight ~52 lbs at 65".

For fireplace installs in cabinet-free rooms, the One Connect Box is genuinely useful — only ONE thin cable runs to the TV. Easier than running 4× HDMI through brick.

Use TV Mount Builder for S95H-specific mount sizing.

Who should buy this TV

Buy if: Direct-sun bright room, you want the absolute best Samsung OLED, you'll use Art Mode, you're wall-mounting in a cabinet-free room.

Skip if: You need Dolby Vision (get LG G6), the S90H's 1,500 nits is enough for your room, or budget under $3K.

Rick's final verdict

Rick's verdict: the flagship Samsung OLED in 2026. Real upgrade over the S95F (brightness + Art Mode + FloatLayer chassis). Worth the $900 premium over the S90H only if you have a direct-sun room or you'll use the One Connect Box for a wall install. Most buyers should grab the S90H instead.

Final score: 9.4 / 10 — best-in-class Samsung OLED, but the S90H is the smarter buy for most.
