T-Mobile Home Internet

5G fixed wireless. Cheap, no contracts, no install — but speeds depend entirely on tower load at your address. Great in suburbs near towers. Not a fiber replacement for power users.

Ownership & corporate history

Ownership type: publicly-traded (since 2021)

Previously known as / acquired: T-Mobile US (parent company, founded 1994 as VoiceStream Wireless)

Same parent as T-Mobile wireless. T-Mobile retail stores CAN process Home Internet equipment returns (the gateway is the only piece) — different from Verizon Fios where wireless and Fios are operationally split.

Returning your equipment

Accepted return methods: t-mobile-store-corporate · ups-store-prepaid-label · fedex-prepaid-label

You must return: T-Mobile 5G Gateway (KVD21 or G4AR or G4SE — the cylindrical/grey unit)

⚠ Do NOT drop equipment at these stores

These branded retail stores share the carrier's name but cannot accept equipment returns for this service. Confirm before driving:

  • T-Mobile Authorized Dealers (Premium Retailer stores — confirm by phone if they'll accept the Home Internet gateway specifically)

Common mistake: T-Mobile retail stores are generally OK to accept the Home Internet gateway return — but Premium Retailer franchise stores may push back. Use a corporate-operated T-Mobile Store or just UPS the gateway back.

Where you can actually go in person

Confirmed company-operated stores that can sign up service AND accept equipment returns. Authorized-retailer addresses are tagged separately because they cannot always handle returns.
