Spectrum
#2 US cable ISP after Comcast. No data caps and no contracts — the rare cable carrier that doesn't lock you in. But promo pricing jumps hard at month 13 and upload speeds on cable tiers are weak.

Ownership & corporate history
Ownership type: publicly-traded (since 1993)
Previously known as / acquired: Charter Communications · Time Warner Cable (acquired 2016) · Bright House Networks (acquired 2016)
Charter rebranded to Spectrum after the 2016 TWC + BHN mega-merger. Spectrum Stores are mostly corporate-operated and CAN handle equipment returns — much simpler than AT&T/Verizon Fios in this respect.

Returning your equipment
Accepted return methods: spectrum-store-corporate · ups-store-prepaid-label · fedex-prepaid-label
You must return: Spectrum modem/gateway, Spectrum cable boxes, Spectrum voice modem, Spectrum DVR, Remotes
⚠ Do NOT drop equipment at these stores
These branded retail stores share the carrier's name but cannot accept equipment returns for this service. Confirm before driving:
- Spectrum Mobile retail kiosks (mall locations selling phones — confirm before driving since some can't process residential returns)
Common mistake: Spectrum is one of the easier carriers — most corporate Spectrum Stores handle residential returns. But Spectrum Mobile kiosks are a separate product line and not always staffed for internet/TV returns. Use the store locator and filter for full-service stores.
Where you can actually go in person
Confirmed company-operated stores that can sign up service AND accept equipment returns. Authorized-retailer addresses are tagged separately because they cannot always handle returns.
