UntangledStreaming is built to be usable by everyone — including visitors who use keyboards, screen readers, magnification, switch controls, or who rely on captions and high-contrast modes. This page is our public commitment to accessibility and our open invitation to tell us when we miss the mark.
Our conformance target
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.
We are not yet certified or independently audited. We re-audit our own site quarterly and welcome external reports.
What we've built in
Keyboard navigation — every interactive element on every page can be reached and operated with the Tab key. We use semantic HTML so screen readers announce content correctly.
Skip-to-main-content link — press Tab on any page and a "Skip to main content" link appears so keyboard users can bypass the top navigation on every visit.
Visible focus indicators — every button, link, and form field shows a high-contrast blue outline when focused via keyboard.
Alt text on every image — all 600+ photographs, charts, and illustrations on the site carry descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
44×44px tap targets — every button, link, and form field meets the Apple Human Interface Guidelines and WCAG 2.5.5 minimum on touch devices.
Color contrast — body text on dark backgrounds meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required for WCAG AA. Muted secondary text meets the 3:1 ratio for large text.
Reduced motion — visitors who set "Reduce Motion" in their operating system get a still version of any animation we use.
Language attribute — every page declares its language via <html lang="en"> (or "es" on Spanish pages) so screen readers select the correct pronunciation rules.
Captions + audio description — we publish guides explaining how to enable closed captions and audio description tracks on every major streaming service. See Customize closed captions and Audio description guide.
Responsive text sizing — body copy uses relative units so the page reflows correctly when a visitor increases browser text size up to 200% (a WCAG AA requirement).
What we're still working on
Independent audit. We're a small team. A formal third-party accessibility audit is on our roadmap as the site grows.
Some legacy interactive tools. Our older quiz and configurator components were built before our current accessibility standards. We are re-checking them and improving as needed.
Video transcripts. Where we embed YouTube videos, captions are inherited from the original creator. We're working on transcript pages for our own walkthrough videos.
High-contrast theme. Our default theme uses high-contrast cyan-on-dark, which works well for most users. A dedicated "high contrast" mode toggle is in our queue.
Assistive tech we test against
We test pages with these tools regularly:
VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
NVDA on Windows
Keyboard-only navigation in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge
200% zoom + browser text-size increases
System "Reduce Motion" and "Increase Contrast" settings on macOS and iOS
If something doesn't work for you — tell us
Accessibility issues are bugs. If a page is hard to use with your assistive technology, please email [email protected] with the URL of the page, the assistive tech you're using, and a short description of the issue. We'll get back to you within 5 business days and we'll fix what's broken.
You can also reach Rick directly through the contact page. Reports are welcome from anyone — disability advocates, fellow developers, casual visitors, or people who tried to use the site and just got frustrated.
Legal — formal statement
This statement was last updated on June 10, 2026. UntangledStreaming is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We actively work to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.
This website endeavors to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user-friendly for everyone.
This site is reviewed regularly and updated to maintain accessibility. While we strive to adhere to the guidelines and standards, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website — particularly on legacy pages that we are actively migrating. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility.
